The 'Korea Glocal Future Education Expo,' featuring participation from 25 countries overseas, will be held at the Yeosu World Expo Site from May 29 to June 2, 2024.

Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 11th that the Yeosu World Expo Site has been finally selected as the venue for the '2024 Korea Glocal Future Education Expo,' jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Jeollanam-do Office of Education.

The 'Korea Glocal Future Education Expo' is an international education event with the theme of 'Education for Symbiosis! Sustainable Future,' featuring contents such as the World Glocal Education Forum, Future Education Fair, Business Showcase, and Global Youth Festival, with over 100,000 visitors from 25 countries overseas participating.

The Jeollanam-do Office of Education conducted a public contest for the event venue selection in June, and after evaluating the bid proposals and conducting on-site inspections, finally selected the 'Yeosu World Expo Site' as the venue on the 10th.

Earlier, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu actively expressed his intention to host the event to the Jeollanam-do Office of Education by emphasizing Yeosu's strengths such as experience in hosting international events, being an optimal MICE destination, accommodation facilities, and abundant cultural and tourism infrastructure. It is known that proactive responses were made to the contest, including signing a business agreement with Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority for the use of the expo site.

Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, "Yeosu City supports the largest education budget in Jeollanam-do with a scale of 10 billion KRW, and hosting this expo is expected to be an opportunity to leap forward as a model city for future education in the era of great transformation in Jeonnam education."

He added, "By successfully hosting this international event, we will maximize the promotional effect of the '2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo' and elevate the status of 'Namhaean Hub City, Beautiful Port Yeosu.'"
