View original imageOn the 10th (local time), Deputy Minister Shin held the 3rd Deputy Minister-level 'Korea-Saudi Defense Cooperation Committee' with Fayad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of Staff of Saudi Arabia, to discuss ways to strengthen defense and defense industry cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Minister Shin stated, "North Korea's nuclear and missile threats are challenges not only to Northeast Asia but also to the Indo-Pacific region and global peace and security," and requested, "Please actively support our government's bold initiatives and efforts for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula." He added that the two countries have built trust through the summit in November last year and the defense ministerial meeting in March, and said, "Let us further cooperate in areas such as the defense industry, education and training, and exchanges of senior military officials."
Prior to this, on the 9th (local time), Deputy Minister Shin met with Khaled bin Hussein Al-Biyari, Political Deputy Minister of the Saudi Ministry of Defense, to express gratitude for supporting South Korea's evacuation operation of overseas nationals from Sudan in April. He also conveyed his intention to "cooperate in various ways to share Korea's accumulated experience and achievements in the defense sector" regarding Saudi Arabia's pursuit of 'Saudi Vision 2030,' which aims to diversify the economy away from oil.
