Korea Philip Morris and Environmental Foundation Launch 'Ssedam Filter Campaign'
Citizens Participate in Rainwater Drain Plogging and More Across Dongjak-gu
Korea Philip Morris announced on the 11th that it is conducting the ‘Sseudam Filter’ campaign in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation in the Dongjak-gu area of Seoul.
The Sseudam Filter campaign is part of ‘Sseudam Seoul: Season 3,’ a project Korea Philip Morris is carrying out with the Environmental Foundation, newly introduced this year. Running from last month until the end of this month, the campaign aims to reduce flood damage caused by the rainy season through cleaning storm drains in the city and to promote proper waste disposal culture and raise a sense of responsibility among citizens.
Storm drains installed on roads or alleys are important facilities that send rainwater to sewage pipes to prevent flooding damage. However, trash and cigarette butts are often discarded there, causing citizens to suffer from unpleasant odors and, during the rainy season, flooding damage may occur. Korea Philip Morris and the Environmental Foundation have collaborated to address these issues.
A crew of 60 citizens has been conducting urban cleanup activities every Saturday in the Dongjak-gu area from the 10th of last month until the end of this month. The citizen crew cleans trash and cigarette butts discarded in the storm drains and decorates the area around the drains with artwork after plogging.
