Appointed as the Representative of the Seoul Region at the ‘2023 Sustainable Lifelong Learning Cities National Assembly Forum’
Representative Lee: "We will strive for the growth of lifelong learning cities through mutual cooperation and exchange with member cities in the Seoul region"
On the 5th, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, was appointed as the representative of the Seoul region lifelong learning cities at the ‘11th Inauguration Ceremony of the National Lifelong Learning Cities Association Representatives and National Assembly Forum’ held at the National Assembly Library Auditorium.
The nationwide lifelong learning cities are cities selected by the Ministry of Education since 2001 to create a learning society that enhances the quality of life and competitiveness of individuals, society, cities, and the nation as a whole. They consist of 196 local governments and 74 education support offices nationwide.
Seongbuk-gu was designated as a lifelong learning city in 2005.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu stated, “I feel very honored to be appointed as the representative of the Seoul region at a time when the importance and influence of lifelong learning in our communities and lives are gradually increasing. I will do my best to foster significant growth through mutual cooperation and exchange with lifelong learning cities in the Seoul region.”
At the ‘2023 Sustainable Lifelong Learning Cities National Assembly Forum’ held on the same day, about 300 participants including members of the Education Committee and lifelong learning city officials engaged in lively discussions.
