Nationwide Communication and Future Connection Flag Raised: 'Road Day' Commemoration Ceremony Held
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 6th that they will hold the '2023 Road Day' commemorative ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 7th at the Construction Hall.

View original imageThe Road Day event has been held annually since 1992 to commemorate the opening date of the Gyeongbu Expressway on July 7, 1970.
This year, the event will be held under the theme "50 Years of Nationwide Connectivity! 100 Years of Future Connection!" to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Honam and Namhae Expressways (November 14, 1973).
About 500 people involved in the transportation sector, including Baek Won-guk, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Ham Jin-gyu, Chairman of the Korea Expressway Corporation, will attend the event. Ministerial commendations will be awarded to 43 individuals who have contributed to the development of road traffic.
Various policy seminars and exhibitions will also be held. These include a traffic calming education seminar for local government officials and a policy seminar on the appropriate project cost estimation for national road construction projects. An exhibition of excellent technologies from small and medium-sized enterprises registered in the Korea Expressway Technology Market is also prepared.

Before the event, Vice Minister Baek said, "We will work together to ensure that roads can serve not only as basic infrastructure for transportation but also as a mobility platform providing integrated services among various transportation modes," adding, "We will create a digital convergence future-oriented road that all citizens can use more safely and conveniently."
