Samsung Electronics Upgrades 'Home IoT Solution'... Enhanced Intuitiveness
Expansion of Application Areas Including Premium Detached Houses Planned
Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it will introduce a new 'Map View'-based home Internet of Things (IoT) solution in smart apartments equipped with SmartThings.
Since 2020, starting with Samsung C&T’s Raemian Leaders One in Seocho-gu, Seoul, Samsung Electronics has been applying the SmartThings home IoT solution to apartment complexes developed by major construction companies such as Samsung C&T, POSCO E&C, Daewoo E&C, and Hyundai E&C. As of the end of last month, the smart apartments implemented by Samsung Electronics total more than 130,000 households, the largest scale among domestic home appliance companies.
The SmartThings home IoT solution helps control various devices inside the home, including home appliances, lighting, and heating and cooling systems, all in one place. It also supports convenient living by integratively managing convenience information such as elevator calls, parking information, and unmanned parcel management.

The upgraded home IoT solution features a SmartThings smart apartment main screen centered on a map view based on the floor plan of the respective household. Through images reflecting the actual house structure, users can intuitively check the status of devices by space, temperature and air quality, and energy consumption.
It also includes a function that automatically links and categorizes devices by space without the resident having to set the device locations manually. Additionally, it offers a feature that groups and displays related devices by concept, such as heating and cooling and air quality devices, ceiling lighting, and power consumption.
