Assemblyman Kim Young-sik, "Reasonable Standards for Home Shopping Broadcast Commission Fees Must Be Established"
Kim Young-sik, a member of the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee from the People Power Party, announced on the 7th that he will hold an 'Industry Meeting on TV Home Shopping Transmission Fees' at 2 p.m. on the 11th.
The 'Home Shopping Broadcasting Channel Usage Contract Guidelines' announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT in March included standards and procedures to resolve issues arising during transmission fee negotiations. However, there are differing opinions among stakeholders regarding the calculation criteria.
In particular, since the guidelines announced by the government have no legal binding force, voices are emerging that more specific and reasonable transmission fee calculation standards must be established for the sustainable growth and competitiveness enhancement of the paid broadcasting ecosystem.
This meeting was organized to bring together related stakeholders such as the TV Home Shopping Association, IPTV Association, paid broadcasting operators, and home shopping operators to explore policy measures for the development of the paid broadcasting ecosystem, including the realization of transmission fees.
Professor Kim Yong-hee of Dongguk University is scheduled to give a presentation on the topic of 'Coexistence Measures between Paid Broadcasting Platforms and TV Home Shopping Channels.' The moderator will be Professor Kim Jeong-hyun of Korea University. The discussion panel includes Hwang Ki-seop, Director of the Korea TV Home Shopping Association; Lee Sang-kyung, Center Director of the Korea IPTV Broadcasting Association; Lee Kyung-ryeol, Executive Director of Hyundai Home Shopping; and Kim Jeong-ryeol, Broadcasting Promotion Policy Officer at the Ministry of Science and ICT.
