Gwangju Seo-gu Signs MOU with 5 Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers

On the 3rd, Seo-gu District of Gwangju Metropolitan City signed a business agreement with five comprehensive social welfare centers in the district and the 'Seo-gu Maelro (Road) Welfare Center.'

According to Seo-gu on the 4th, the Seo-gu Maelro Welfare Center is a project where residents, welfare centers, and the district office cooperate to create a unique social welfare center model for Seo-gu, aiming to be closer to residents and more intricately involved in the community.

At the signing ceremony, the welfare centers agreed to work on solving community welfare issues such as resource allocation, education, and resident organization, while Seo-gu promised administrative support including building a community cooperation system and securing base spaces and resources.

Through this, Seo-gu plans to address the welfare needs of residents who have difficulty accessing welfare centers regionally, discover isolated households and vulnerable groups in the area, and plan and operate various programs tailored to them.

In particular, Seo-gu intends to expand its activities beyond existing welfare centers, focusing on nearby neighborhoods, based on the know-how of comprehensive social welfare centers that have served as welfare hubs in the community for over 30 years, establishing trusted and smart welfare administration together with residents.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Through the Seo-gu Maelro Welfare Center, welfare services based on the community and residents will be further expanded, diversifying the roles and functions of welfare centers, and we will take care to ensure that no resident is neglected or falls into welfare blind spots.”
