Byung-no Lee, the mayor of Damyang County, spent a busy schedule from the 30th of last month to the 3rd, spending time with residents from all walks of life without holding a separate commemorative event to mark his first anniversary in office.
According to the county on the 3rd, Mayor Lee first held a first anniversary performance report meeting on the afternoon of June 30 at the Cultural Center auditorium, attended by about 700 residents and staff, sharing the achievements of the past year.
At the performance report meeting, he explained the achievements in various fields aimed at creating a "self-reliant economic city where everyone is happy together" and presented the blueprint for Damyang envisioned by the 8th elected administration.
In particular, Mayor Lee stated, “The first task for Damyang to prosper is the promotion of agriculture,” noting that the budget was expanded by 36% compared to last year to lay the foundation for the future. He reported achievements such as branding Damyang strawberries as premium products, full support for organic fertilizer, support for rice sales funds, and the export of Damyang rice.
He also emphasized focusing on attracting investments amounting to 235.2 billion KRW, improving educational environments, and establishing public sports facilities and cultural complex infrastructure such as the County Residents' Sports Center and Dambit Music Hall to create a youthful and vibrant Damyang that attracts young people.
Mayor Byung-no Lee said, “The sites for Damyang’s 2nd General Industrial Complex and Food-specialized Agricultural Industrial Complex have been decided, and administrative procedures are underway,” adding, “We will surely realize a dynamic Damyang where young people, the growth engine of the region, can pursue their dreams.”
Furthermore, he revealed that efforts were made to build social infrastructure for balanced growth across the entire region, including the Daedeok Maesan District Regional Vitality Town project with a total budget of 126.7 billion KRW, rural space maintenance projects in Mujeong-myeon, improvement of dangerous roads in Yong-myeon, and the inclusion of the town rotary intersection in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s 7th basic plan.
Mayor Lee stated, “Going forward, we will strive for substantial progress in projects and fair distribution of public contest projects to achieve balanced regional development throughout the area.”
Last weekend, he continued his communication efforts by inspecting major tourist sites and visiting livelihood sites with about 40 senior officials, including the deputy mayor.
On the 1st, he carefully inspected the safety of major tourist sites such as Chuwolsan Yongmaru-gil, which attracts many tourists, by walking the sites together to identify any inconveniences in the facilities.
In the early morning of the following day, the 2nd, he visited the Damyang Livestock Market to observe the auction process and listen to the difficulties faced by livestock farmers. He then visited the traditional market to encourage merchants who continue their livelihoods despite difficult economic conditions and gathered opinions to revitalize the Damyang market.
On the 3rd, he visited the Damyang County Senior Welfare Center, donned an apron, and continued volunteer activities. Mayor Lee served warm meals to the elderly, concluding his first anniversary schedule.
This field schedule was arranged with the meaning of reaffirming the importance of on-site administration and was conducted together with newly appointed senior officials following the regular personnel reshuffle on July 1.
