Newbility Selected as Joint R&D Institution for 27 Billion KRW 'Drone-Robot Delivery Business'
Research Progress on Heavy Cargo Delivery Robot Platform
Newbility, a company developing indoor and outdoor autonomous driving robot service platforms (CEO Lee Sang-min), announced on the 3rd that it has been selected as a joint research and development institution for the '2023 Drone-Robot Linked Urban High-Weight Cargo Multimodal Delivery Technology Development Project,' worth approximately 27 billion KRW, promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Newbility will collaborate with the lead research and development institution, Gaion, to develop a robot platform for urban high-weight cargo delivery. For this purpose, it will receive about 5 billion KRW in research and development funding over the next four years.
This project, promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, aims to develop contactless delivery technology using drones and robots in urban areas where delivery automation is possible. The goal is to establish a contactless delivery operation system for cargo weighing over 40 kg and to accelerate the commercialization of last-mile delivery.
Leveraging its driving experience in dense building environments such as Seoul and Songdo, Newbility plans to build various delivery service scenarios within urban areas while further strengthening its specialized autonomous driving technology competitiveness.
