Yongin City announced on the 3rd that starting this month, it will operate a Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center to oversee hygiene, safety, and nutrition management for small-scale meal facilities used by the elderly and disabled (facilities without a nutritionist serving fewer than 50 people).
The main targets are nursing homes (medical welfare facilities for the elderly), home-based elderly welfare facilities (day and night care services), and residential facilities for the disabled.
The Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center will be operated in integration with the Child Meal Management Support Center, which serves daycare centers and kindergartens.
The center provides education tailored to residents, cooks, caregivers, and facility managers, along with various types of meal plans and recipes, including regular meals and diabetic diets. It also conducts the preparation of nutrition management cards for residents and offers consultations.

A Yongin City official stated, "Small-scale social welfare meal facilities have faced difficulties in systematic hygiene, safety, and nutrition management due to the absence of nutritionists. We expect that nutritionists from the center visiting these facilities will provide balanced meals to vulnerable groups and help improve their health."
