View original imageLast December, the city was selected for the '2023 Advanced Information Technology Utilization Public Service Promotion Contest Project' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The contractor was selected through a negotiated contract with the Public Procurement Service on the 26th of last month, and the project is scheduled to be completed by November this year.
The city plans to install IoT air environment sensors at 80 bus stops to build an integrated air environment management system based on big data analysis and develop a smart road cleaning management system through big data analysis accordingly.
Upon completion of the project, it is expected to improve the usage environment of bus stops and support the establishment of various long-term policies such as fine dust forecasting based on the collected air environment information.

Jung Kyung-won, Director of the Autonomous Administration Office, stated, “As the government emphasizes the importance of the data industry by selecting tasks such as implementing a digital platform government, Pohang City is also expanding projects utilizing big data. Through this project, we will secure data on Pohang’s air environment and strive to provide better environmental policies to citizens through analysis.”
