Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will pilot the psychological support program for young and middle-aged adults, ‘Maeum Gongbang (Time to Refine My Mind),’ starting from the 30th for local workers and university students.
In response to the rising youth suicide rate, the district planned a visiting psychological support program for young and middle-aged adults who find it difficult to participate in programs due to work or study.
This pilot project will select about 50 young and middle-aged participants, including ▲1st phase Korail Networks (6.30~7.28) and ▲2nd phase local university students (8.4~9.1), and operate a five-session program.
The locations are workplaces with many civil service tasks in the area and the youth cultural space Yongsan Cheongnyeon Jium.
The program includes ▲early detection of high-risk groups through mental health checks for stress, depression, etc., followed by individual psychological counseling ▲and group bibliotherapy to improve self-understanding, self-esteem, and positive thinking.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We are reviewing multifaceted support measures to reduce the suicide rate among young and middle-aged adults,” adding, “Through this pilot project, we plan to verify whether the program is effective in preventing depression and suicide among young and middle-aged adults and expand its operation.”
