Naju Branch of Korea Rural Community Corporation Completes Emergency Repair of Shinheung Pumping Station Distribution Panel
The Naju branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation announced on the 29th that although a fire occurred in part of the electrical distribution panel at the Sinheung Drainage Pump Station due to electrical overload caused by lightning on the 28th, making drainage operations difficult, the drainage station's functionality was restored after overnight work.
With a heavy responsibility, as a heavy rain advisory was issued and failure to restore the drainage station's function quickly could cause massive damage to nearby farmland, the employees of the Naju branch persevered through drowsiness and heat during overnight work to focus on the restoration efforts.
The restoration work, which began on the afternoon of the 28th, proceeded in the order of installing five 250mm engine pumps, dismantling the fire-damaged distribution panel, and installing replacement equipment.
By 3 p.m. that day, test operations of three drainage pumps were completed, and by 5 p.m., test operations of two restored pumps were also completed, finishing the emergency restoration to normalize the drainage station's function by 6 p.m.
Han Hwajin, head of the Naju branch, said, "Fortunately, the emergency restoration was completed for this fire, but we will also expedite permanent repairs," adding, "We will continue to thoroughly manage the facilities through regular and special inspections to prepare so that no damage occurs."
