Yoo Si-min, Who Broke Seino Kise's Momentum... 'Science Study for Liberal Arts Men' Tops Bestseller List
In the comprehensive bestseller list for the 4th week of June on Yes24, author Yoo Si-min's first humanities book on science, Mun-gwa Namja-ui Gwahak Gongbu (Science Study of a Liberal Arts Man), took the top spot. The underground classic Seino-ui Gareuchim (Seino's Teachings), a collection of columns by the wealthy Seino, ranked second. Seino-ui Gareuchim also dropped to second place at Kyobo Bookstore, where it had held the number one spot for 17 consecutive weeks, being overtaken by Mun-gwa Namja-ui Gwahak Gongbu.
The new volume in the nature and biology observation comic series, Eggbaksa 10, which reimagines popular kids creator Eggbaksa’s videos into stories, achieved third place on Yes24 through pre-orders alone. The new novel Kkulbeol-ui Yepyeon 1 (The Prophecy of the Bees 1) by worldwide bestselling author Bernard Werber rose to fourth place, while the revised and expanded edition of the bestseller Yeokhaengja (The Backward Walker), titled Yeokhaengja Hwaktangpan (The Backward Walker Expanded Edition), remained steady at fifth place as last week.
New releases by YouTuber authors also drew attention. The new economic management book Chagaun Jabonjuui (Cold Capitalism) debuted at seventh place overall and first in the economic management category. This is the first book by Yoon Lucas, an economic YouTuber who gained 100,000 subscribers in 10 days and 300,000 in six months. Through sharp insights, the book reveals the harsh truths of capitalist market economies. It was directly introduced on the author’s YouTube channel, and with the empathy and support of subscribers, it quickly entered the top 10 bestsellers.
Jibeseo Unyeonghaneun Jageun Ppangjip SOFT BREAD (Soft Bread: A Small Bakery Run at Home) ranked 16th overall and first in the home living category through pre-orders. This is the first solo recipe book by Chef Kim Jin-ho, a Korean master baker who runs the YouTube channel Hoya HOYA and serves as the head chef at Hats Bakery. The book includes diverse recipes such as K-style bread tailored to Korean tastes, along with useful theories to improve productivity and efficiency in baking work.
