"Lifelong Atonement to Children" Letter from Biological Mother of Infant Found in Refrigerator
"I Wanted to Surrender but Worried About My Three Remaining Children"
Biological Mother’s Charge Changed from Infanticide to Murder
Amid the disclosure of a letter written by the biological mother in the Suwon refrigerator infant corpse case, the police announced that they will change the mother's charge from infanticide to murder.
On the 29th, JoongAng Ilbo revealed a letter delivered through the attorney immediately after the police investigation of the suspect, biological mother Go (35), in the 'Suwon refrigerator infant corpse case.'
Go opened by saying, "I wish the children had been born to good parents, loved, and lived well, but I am very sorry to the two children who came to me wandering through financial hardship and postpartum depression and lived short lives."
She continued, saying she thought the remaining three children would be shocked if they suddenly parted from their mother, and stated, "I lied during the first investigation because I thought I had to teach them something they could do on their own before leaving," and "I wanted to surrender several times, but I couldn't because the remaining three children are still young and I was worried."
The suspect's biological mother, Go Mo, in the Suwon infant murder case sent a handwritten letter to JoongAng Ilbo through her lawyer after the police investigation held on the 28th at the Suwon Nambu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province.

She said, "After my confession, the case was immediately reported on the broadcast, and too many reporters came to the house, so the children could not go home after school and have been hiding, unable to attend school until now," and added, "The children's friends are contacting me, and excessive personal information digging has started," and "Please stop contacting us."
Go concluded the letter by saying, "I hope my husband, children, and parents will not be harassed or have their personal information dug up because of me," and "I will live my life atoning for the children who went ahead of me."
Go is suspected of killing her fourth daughter and fifth son immediately after birth in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and storing their bodies in a refrigerator inside her apartment unit in Jangan-gu, Suwon City, where she lives.
She was already struggling financially with three children and committed this crime again after becoming pregnant once more, according to the investigation.
At the time of her arrest, Go was charged with infanticide, punishable by up to 10 years in prison for killing an infant during or immediately after delivery.
However, according to a report by Yonhap News on the 29th, the Women and Juvenile Division of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency decided to change Go's charge to murder, punishable by death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for five years or more.
