Gwangju Seo-gu Council Conducts Emergency On-Site Inspection of Heavy Rain Damage Areas
The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 1st that it conducted an emergency inspection by visiting local sites damaged by the heavy rain that fell overnight on the 28th of last month.
Seo-gu council members visited an apartment in Pungam-dong where a retaining wall collapsed and other facilities in the district to assess the extent of the damage and discuss restoration measures.
Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae stated, "More than 200mm of heavy rain fell overnight, causing various damages such as flooding and collapses. We will cooperate with the Seo-gu Office to promptly restore the damage."
She added, "We will thoroughly inspect flood-prone areas and drainage gates and prepare countermeasures to do our best to prevent casualties and property damage caused by heavy rains during the monsoon season."
