The Daily Praise campaign is a representative long-running campaign of the Korean Dementia Association, planned in 2012 for dementia patients and caregivers who find ordinary daily activities such as going out and cultural life difficult, and has continued to this day. Since 2015, the association has signed a business agreement with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to carry out various programs and activities combined with art. This year, with the lifting of social distancing measures, programs have been prepared for both the first and second halves of the year to allow more dementia patients and caregivers to participate.
This first half Daily Praise campaign is composed of programs centered on contemporary art works that can stimulate various senses of the patients. Participants will appreciate 'Flowers of Tomorrow (2015),' an exhibition piece from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s collection, engage in conversations with artist Choi Jung-hwa, who creates works using familiar everyday materials, and participate in creative activities making sculptures using flowers. Additionally, based on poems written by the artist, there will be time to experience various physical senses by expressing flowers through sign language and gestures with a dancer.
Yang Dong-won, Chairman of the Korean Dementia Association (Professor of Neurology at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital), said, "Through Daily Praise, the Korean Dementia Association has continuously sustained the campaign to help dementia patients and caregivers find emotional vitality." He added, "Especially this year, with the full lifting of social distancing, we are pleased to meet many patients and caregivers through an expanded scale of Daily Praise compared to last year." He emphasized, "Not only will we further expand the campaign to prevent dementia patients and caregivers from suffering due to the disease, but the association will also take the lead in research, academics, education, and policy development."
