Sunchang-gun 'Nongchon Sarang Donghaeng Sunchang' Agreement... Increase in Resident and Related Population

Suncheon-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is expected to revitalize the local area through the ‘Nongchon Sarang Donghaeng Sunchang’ project, which aims to increase the living population and related population by promoting urban-rural exchange.

According to the county on the 28th, the ‘Nongchon Sarang Donghaeng Sunchang’ agreement is a Sunchang-type urban-rural exchange model that supports accommodation fees, meal expenses, and program participation fees when holding various exchange events such as workshops, fam tours, and rural experiences in Sunchang to increase the living and related populations.

Jeonju Daejain Hospital participated in medical volunteer work and the Sunchang jang-making event with employees’ families through the agreement, the Gwangju Apartment Association held a fam tour, and Yesu Hospital held a nurses’ training session in Sunchang, with visits from various organizations continuing.

‘Nongchon Sarang Donghaeng Sunchang’ started as a pilot project in 2022 and has signed agreements with a total of 140 organizations so far, supporting urban-rural exchange events for 1,100 people from 35 organizations.

As visits from urban-rural exchange agreement organizations continue, the increase in the ‘living population’ or ‘related population,’ which refers to the population temporarily staying for tourism purposes, is bringing vitality to the region.

Recently, starting with the signing of an agreement and fam tour with the Daegu Apartment Association, business briefings and agreement signings with apartment associations in Gyeongnam, Busan, and Ulsan are expanding exchanges between the Yeong and Honam regions and continuously promoting activities for mutual development.

In particular, from the second half of the year, the number of groups wishing to visit Gangcheonsan County Park for summer valley water play and autumn foliage viewing is expected to surge, and visits to Sunchang by organizations through Nongchon Sarang Donghaeng Sunchang agreements are expected to increase significantly.

County Governor Choi Young-il said, “I believe that the tourist population, that is, the living population, has the same local economic revitalization effect as the resident population,” and added, “We will actively prepare ways for companies and rural areas to coexist by signing agreements with companies nationwide in the future.”
