Belarus President Orders National Army to Prepare for Full-Scale Battle Against Wagner Armed Rebellion
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, announced that he has ordered his country's military to be fully prepared for combat in response to the armed rebellion by the Wagner Group mercenary force in Russia.
According to AFP and Sputnik News, President Lukashenko made this announcement on the 27th (local time) through his official Telegram channel.
President Lukashenko explained the reason behind this order, stating, "The top priority for national security is to take necessary measures to prevent the escalation of the situation in an already extremely tense environment."
Earlier, on the 24th, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, led the mercenary force in an armed rebellion by advancing toward Moscow, the capital of Russia, but halted and withdrew about 200 km from Moscow the following day.
During this process, President Lukashenko mediated between the Russian government and Prigozhin, facilitating negotiations.
