Jeongeup-si 'Naejangsan Gran Fondo Bicycle Race' Successfully Concluded

Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 27th that it successfully concluded the '2023 Jeongeup Naejangsan Granfondo (Mediofondo) National Bicycle Rally Competition' held on the 25th.

Hosted by the Jeongeup City Sports Council (Chairman Choi Gyu-cheol) and organized by the Jeongeup City Bicycle Federation (Chairman Lee Seung-ryong), the event saw the participation of about 1,100 skilled cyclists from across the country.

The competition was held on two courses: Granfondo (120 km) and Mediofondo (71 km). The races were divided into four categories: men's and women's road cycling, and men's and women's MTB.

The course started at Naejangsan Water Park, passing through Wolryeong Village, Cheonbyeon-ro, in front of Jeonbuk Science College, then passing through Sunchang County and Imsil County before returning to the starting point.

As a result, in the Granfondo category, Ryu Geum-chan and Bang Su-a (road), and Kim Sang-hyo and Jeon Gwi-seon (MTB) were honored with first place.

In the Mediofondo category, Yeon Je-seong and Bong Eun-ji won first place in the men's and women's divisions, respectively.

In the record measurement section, the Naejangsan Churyeong KOM segment, first place was claimed by Ryu Geum-chan and Hwang Yeon-su (Granfondo), Jo Yong-gi and Jeon Gwi-seon (MTB), and Kim Chang-joo and Jang Hyun-jung (Mediofondo).

Mayor Lee Hak-su of Jeongeup said, “Despite the difficult circumstances, I thank all the athletes and related parties including the Jeongeup, Sunchang, and Imsil police stations, and the exemplary drivers' association for their efforts to ensure the safe hosting of the event. Based on the successful completion of this competition without major accidents, Jeongeup City will continue to support the development of cycling disciplines.”
