Goheung-gun Obtains International Standard Certifications in Safety, Health, and Disaster Management
Establishing Crisis Management Systems in Safety, Health, and Disaster Fields
Gohung-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 26th that it has simultaneously obtained international standard (ISO) certifications in recognition of its outstanding performance and quality management in the fields of safety, health, and disaster management.
ISO certification is a process that verifies an organization's quality management system according to standards established by internationally recognized standardization organizations. The certifications obtained by Gohung-gun this time are the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and the Business Continuity Management System (ISO 22301).
‘ISO 45001’ is the highest-level international certification in the field of safety and health, established in 2018 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). It is awarded only to workplaces that have a systematic system to prevent industrial accidents from various hazards and risks and create a pleasant working environment. This certification acquisition means that Gohung-gun’s safety and health management system meets international standards.
‘ISO 22301’ is a management system that enables rapid recovery and normal operation even if core functions are paralyzed due to various disasters and interruptions. Gohung-gun has been internationally recognized for establishing a crisis management system that ensures necessary services to residents are not interrupted and sufficient services are provided regardless of any risks.
Since January this year, Gohung-gun has prepared manuals and procedures for safety, health, and disaster response, and has verified the effectiveness and sustainability of management plans and maintenance systems for each management system from the International Organization for Standardization, ultimately obtaining the international standard certifications (ISO) simultaneously this time.
Gong Young-min, Governor of Gohung-gun, said, "Through this ISO certification, Gohung-gun has been recognized for meeting international standards in the fields of safety, health, and disaster response, but this is just the beginning. Going forward, we plan to strengthen cooperation with the local community and enhance awareness of safety and health along with active accident prevention policies, and to strengthen local disaster response capabilities."
