Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Conducts Special Training for Electric Vehicle Fire Preparedness
Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced on the 26th that it conducted a special fire drill at Gwangju World Cup Stadium in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City to establish a response system for electric vehicle fires and reduce casualties through fire training.
This drill was promoted to cultivate disaster response capabilities focused on electric vehicle fires and improve initial response skills, as fires involving electric vehicles or electric vehicle charging stations have quadrupled in three years due to the spread of electric vehicles, and electric vehicle charging facilities account for more than 75% of installations in apartment complexes.
The participants and equipment included 25 firefighters and 6 fire trucks.
The training focused on ▲theoretical education such as electric vehicle fire response manuals and electric vehicle fire response techniques ▲fire suppression training using portable water tanks for electric vehicle fire extinguishing ▲training on the use and proficiency of electric vehicle fire extinguishing equipment held by each center ▲and drills to establish a radio reporting system at disaster sites.

A fire official stated, "As the number of electric vehicle registrations increases every year, the risk of fire may also accompany it," adding, "As the forms of fires become more diverse, we will reinforce the appropriate equipment and continue to promote training."
