A commotion occurred at a theater in Gwangju when a toolbox was mistaken for an explosive device, prompting a report and the deployment of the police SWAT bomb disposal unit.

View original imageAccording to the Gwangju Police Agency on the 24th, at around 10:47 a.m., a report was received at the 112 call center that a bag suspected to contain hazardous materials was left in the underground parking lot of a movie theater in Hanam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
The police controlled the scene and deployed about 50 counterterrorism personnel, including the SWAT bomb disposal unit and the fire department's special rescue team, to conduct an inspection using X-ray scanning and other methods.
The inspection revealed that the contents of the reported bag were tools and hardware, confirmed to be a toolbox belonging to a theater employee.

Through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other means, the police determined that a repair worker had accidentally left the toolbox in the parking lot the previous afternoon. The police lifted the scene control around noon and concluded the situation.
