Gokseong-gun Launches Fire Extinguisher Support for Disaster-Vulnerable Groups
Support of Residential Fire Extinguishers for 940 Disaster-Vulnerable Households
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it will provide residential fire extinguishers to 940 vulnerable households by July.
According to the "Act on Fire Prevention, Installation and Maintenance of Firefighting Facilities, and Safety Management," which has been in effect since February 2017, each household is required to have residential firefighting facilities. However, in reality, vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone or those facing economic difficulties remain most exposed to the risk of residential fires.
To address this, Gokseong-gun conducted joint inspections by visiting vulnerable households directly in cooperation with the Damyang Fire Station Gokseong 119 Safety Center.
They delivered residential fire extinguishers to vulnerable households and provided training on how to use the extinguishers to prepare in advance for residential fire disasters.
A county official stated, "Disasters can happen to anyone. We will continue to support fire prevention supplies for vulnerable groups so that no citizen is excluded from safety. We also express our gratitude to the Damyang Fire Station Gokseong 119 Safety Center for their active cooperation to ensure the solid implementation of this project."
Gokseong-gun has enacted the "Gokseong-gun Fire Damage Victim Support Ordinance" to protect the lives and property of citizens from residential fires and to alleviate the difficulties of vulnerable groups by supporting the rapid recovery of fire victims.
Additionally, according to the "Gokseong-gun Disaster Vulnerable Group Support Ordinance," since 2018, safety equipment such as fire extinguishers has been provided to 3,300 vulnerable households.
