Yoon Pays Tribute at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Vietnam... Beginning of Summit Diplomacy
President Yoon Suk-yeol paid tribute at the tomb of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of Vietnam, on the second day of his state visit to Vietnam on the 23rd (local time).
President Yoon and his wife, Kim Keon-hee, visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi that morning and paid their respects and laid flowers together with government officials.
President Yoon arrived at the mausoleum dressed in a black suit with a gray tie, while Mrs. Kim wore a black dress.
Despite the rain, the presidential couple did not use umbrellas and observed a moment of silence in front of the tomb before laying flowers.
A red ribbon inscribed with "President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol" was hung on the outer wall of the mausoleum in both Korean and Vietnamese.
Senior government officials accompanying the president on this trip, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Lee Chang-yang, Minister of Labor Lee Jeong-sik, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeong Hwang-geun, and Minister of SMEs and Startups Lee Young, also paid their respects with the presidential couple.
From the presidential office, National Security Office Director Cho Tae-yong, Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs Choi Sang-mok, Senior Secretary for Public Relations Kim Eun-hye, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office Kim Tae-hyo, Foreign Secretary Lee Chung-myeon, Chief of Security Kim Yong-hyun, and spokesperson Lee Do-woon were present.

After the tribute, President Yoon moved to the Presidential Palace in Hanoi to begin the Korea-Vietnam summit with President Vo Van Thuong. He will also hold private meetings with Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam, and Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, meeting all the top four protocol ranks in Vietnam.
