‘Respect and Gratitude for the Great Dedication!’ … Busan City Holds the 73rd Anniversary Event of the 6·25 War

‘Veterans Uniform Wearing Ceremony’ Held on the 70th Anniversary of the Armistice
Heads of Institutions Express Respect and Gratitude to Veterans
Busan City will hold the 73rd anniversary event of the Korean War on the 25th at 10 a.m. in the main auditorium on the first floor of City Hall under the theme "Respect and Gratitude for the Great Sacrifice."
About 700 people will attend this event, including Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon, Vice Chairman of the City Council Park Jung-mook, Busan Superintendent of Education Ha Yoon-soo, veterans and their families, heads of veterans' organizations, and key officials.
The event will proceed in the following order: ▲National Ceremony ▲Awarding of Military Decorations and Commendations to Veterans ▲Uniform Dressing Ceremony for Veterans ▲Commemorative Speech ▲Veterans' Reminiscences ▲Commemorative Performance by the Busan Municipal Arts Troupe and Singing of the Korean War Song ▲Three Cheers for Victory.
This year, marking the 70th anniversary of the armistice, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will provide new uniforms to Korean War veterans. The heads of Busan City, Busan City Council, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Busan Regional Veterans Office will personally dress the veterans in these new uniforms during the "Uniform Dressing Ceremony for Veterans," creating an opportunity to express respect and gratitude toward the veterans.
Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon stated, "Although the military uniforms worn on the battlefield over 70 years ago are now worn and tattered, respect and gratitude for the heroes never fade. I hope that the heartfelt sacrifices and dedication of their youth will shine as infinite glory on the new uniforms." He added, "Busan, which led the way from the ruins of the Korean War to become a global economic powerhouse, asks for your support in hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo so that it can once again take the lead in the nation's leap forward."

A city official said that through this event, the sacrifices and dedication of the Korean War heroes and others who served the nation will be forever engraved in everyone's memory, and efforts will continue to ensure that gratitude is passed on to the younger generations.
