Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will operate the Seongbuk City Tour Bus every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from June 17 to November 26.
The city tour offers three themed courses to enjoy the hidden historical and cultural heritage throughout Seongbuk. Together with Seongbuk-gu cultural tourism guides, the journey will be enriched with vivid and diverse stories, making it even more enjoyable.
The Thursday course, "The Road to Cheongwadae and Seongbuk," includes a scenic drive along Bukak Skyway and a visit to Cheongwadae. It also visits historical and cultural sites in Seongbuk-dong such as the Former House of Choi Sun-woo, Simujang, and Gilsangsa Temple.
The Saturday course, "Seongbuk Historical and Cultural Tour," involves walking along the Hanyangdoseong Fortress Wall and visiting Simujang, Lee Jong-seok’s Villa, the Former House of Choi Sun-woo, and Gilsangsa Temple to fully enjoy Seongbuk-dong. The tour concludes with a visit to Korea University Museum to view a variety of collections ranging from archaeology and folklore to art.
The Sunday course, "Family Healing Tour," includes a visit to Uireung, the royal tomb of King Gyeongjong of Joseon and his queen, followed by a walk along the surrounding trail. It also visits historical and cultural landmarks in Seongbuk-dong such as Lee Jong-seok’s Villa, Gilsangsa Temple, and Suyeonsanbang.
Additionally, the tour includes a visit to the Museum of Korean Stone Culture to learn about the philosophy and wisdom of ancestors through stone artifacts, traditional embroidery, and modern and contemporary Korean paintings.
The Seongbuk City Tour can be joined through advance reservations on the Romance Tour website. The fare ranges from 5,000 to 7,000 KRW per person depending on the course, and entrance fees to the sites are included.
