National Forensic Service, "Cause of Death Unknown" for Two Infant Bodies Found in Refrigerator
First Oral Autopsy Findings Delivered to Police
Detailed Autopsy Expected to Take 1-2 Months
An autopsy on two infant bodies found in a refrigerator inside an apartment in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi Province, revealed no special external injuries.
The Women and Youth Division of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency announced on the 22nd that they received the first verbal opinion regarding the bodies from the National Forensic Service, which conducted the autopsy.
The National Forensic Service stated, "No special external injuries were found on the bodies, so the cause of death is unknown," adding, "It is difficult to determine the exact cause of death until the detailed autopsy results are available." It is expected to take about one to two months for the detailed autopsy results to be released.
The prosecution filed an arrest warrant on the same day against Ms. A, a woman in her 30s and the biological mother of the infants, on charges of infanticide.
Ms. A is suspected of giving birth to babies in November 2018 and November 2019, respectively, killing them immediately afterward, and storing the bodies in the refrigerator inside her apartment unit located in Jangan-gu, Suwon-si, where she resides.
