Gwangju Seo-gu Promotes 'Aisetmom Happiness Taxi'... Easing Economic Burden
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is promoting the ‘Isetmom Happy Taxi’ service project to ease the economic burden on families with multiple children.
Seo-gu announced on the 22nd that it will provide 20 Happy Taxi vouchers (worth 10,000 KRW each) to households that have given birth to a third child or more since January this year.
The Happy Taxi service was introduced to provide transportation convenience for parents raising three or more children and to foster a ‘shared parenting culture in Seo-gu.’
In particular, it actively reflected voices from childcare sites that it is difficult for one guardian to simultaneously operate a vehicle and care for infants and toddlers when traveling with multiple children.
The service is available to households where one parent is registered as a resident in Seo-gu and has given birth to a third or subsequent child this year, with the birth registered in Seo-gu. Applications can be made at the administrative welfare center of the jurisdictional neighborhood office of the newborn’s address.
The taxi vouchers are issued one per ride and can be used throughout the entire Gwangju area for six months from the date of issuance.
Previously, Seo-gu signed a business agreement with Gwangju Bitgoeul Call Taxi to provide the ‘Isetmom Happy Taxi’ operation service.
A Seo-gu official said, “Last year, the number of births in Seo-gu was 1,200, and the total fertility rate was 0.70, highlighting the serious social issue of low birth rates,” adding, “As the saying goes, ‘It takes a whole village to raise one child,’ we will actively implement policies to share the burdens of childbirth, parenting, and education.”
Meanwhile, as part of its childbirth encouragement policies, Seo-gu is promoting projects such as toy delivery services, postpartum care support for mothers, and the MoaMoa Happy Bundle childbirth supplies support.
