Preparing for Vehicle Flooding Ahead of Jangma... Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Operates Emergency Team
Collaborating with Local Governments and Conducting Various Flood Prevention Activities
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance is operating an 'Emergency Flood Prevention Team' (hereinafter referred to as the Emergency Team) to reduce vehicle flood damage ahead of the full-scale rainy season.
On the 21st, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced that it has organized and is operating such a team. Previously, since 2014, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance has been operating the Emergency Team to prevent flood damage for customers with automobile insurance.
This summer, heavy rain is expected not only during the rainy season, which lasts about a month, but also in midsummer after the rainy season ends. In the event of an emergency caused by heavy rain, the Emergency Team will, with customer consent, cooperate with government offices to move vehicles at risk of flooding to safe locations and conduct preemptive flood prevention activities in high-risk areas.
Since last year saw significant damage from heavy rain and typhoons, the list of more than 500 expected flood-prone areas nationwide, including 227 habitual flood zones in lowlands and 281 riverside parking lots, has been updated, and patrol zones have been assigned to partner companies.
Preemptive measures before flooding will also be activated. Patrol activities will be strengthened in preparation for flooding in riverside parking lots, and the call center plans to provide customers with frequent updates on weather and risk situations.
A cooperative system with nearby government offices and local governments has also been established. The Emergency Team visited and interviewed local government officials responsible for flood-prone areas to request pre-verification of habitual flood zones within the local government and to strengthen road maintenance activities.
