Political Bureau Points Out 'Satellite Failure' Defects
North Korea cited the failure of the military reconnaissance satellite launch as the "most serious defect."
According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 19th, the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held from the 16th to the 18th at the Central Committee headquarters, attended by State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee criticized, "The most serious defect was the failure of the military reconnaissance satellite launch, a major strategic project in the space development sector, on May 31."
There was also criticism directed at the officials responsible for the satellite launch preparation project, and it was reported that "the officials and scientists in the relevant sector were instructed to thoroughly analyze the causes and lessons of this launch failure and to successfully launch the military reconnaissance satellite as soon as possible."

The news agency further reported, "A combat task was presented to enhance the reconnaissance intelligence capabilities of the People's Army and to establish a shortcut to achieve greater leapfrog development in the field of space development."
