Gwangju Science Museum 'Geoulmot Model Boat Creation Contest' Successfully Concluded
The National Gwangju Science Museum successfully held the "4th Geoulmot Model Boat Creation Competition."
The Gwangju Science Museum, together with the Gwangju Science Culture Association, held the competition on the 17th at the outdoor Geoulmot pond of the science museum, with about 100 participants including elementary and middle school students and their instructors.
A total of 28 teams who secured their spots through the preliminary round participated in the competition, engaging in a heated contest starting with building model boats using parts provided by the museum.
Starting this year, instead of simple motor-powered models, wireless control-based parts were newly provided, allowing students to freely control their boats through coding.
Participants tested their self-made model boats and competed in two rounds divided into elementary and middle school categories.
The final winners were determined by combining scores for boat construction/design and movement.
In each category, the grand prize was awarded the Gwangju Mayor's Award, the gold prize the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent's Award, and the silver, bronze, and encouragement prizes were awarded the National Gwangju Science Museum Director's Award, respectively.
