Season 2 Filming to Start in Second Half of This Year
Four new actors have been revealed for 'Squid Game' Season 2: Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.
Netflix held a global fan event called 'Tudum' in S?o Paulo, Brazil, on the 17th (local time). During the event, the casting for 'Squid Game' Season 2 was announced via video. On the 18th, Netflix also revealed on their YouTube channel that "these four actors will appear as new participants in the Season 2 game." In the video, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun were shown pressing game buttons one after another.
According to the video, Lee Jung-jae, who played Seong Gi-hun in Season 1, Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man, Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo as a mysterious man holding a ddakji will also appear in Season 2. Specific roles, settings, or scenes involving the newly joined actors have not yet been disclosed.
Im Si-wan has demonstrated a wide acting spectrum crossing good and evil in Netflix films like 'Moonlit Winter' and dramas such as 'I Don't Want to Do Anything.' Kang Ha-neul gained attention through the film 'Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure' and the drama 'When the Camellia Blooms.' Park Sung-hoon delivered impressive performances in the Netflix series 'The Glory,' and Yang Dong-geun has been filming the Netflix movie 'Yaksha' and the drama 'Cheer Up.'
'Squid Game' Season 1 set a record for the most viewing hours in Netflix history in 2021, sparking a global phenomenon. It ranked number one on Netflix's viewing charts for 46 consecutive days after its release. Director Hwang announced the confirmation of Season 2 production last June, saying, "We will meet again with even newer games and amazing stories." Filming for Season 2 will officially begin in the second half of this year.
