Suncheon-si, Recruiting 100-Day Wellness Nordic Walking Experience Group
First-Come, First-Served Registration for Citizens to Join Nordic Walking Together
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will operate the "Suncheon Wellness Nordic Walking (Nordic-style walking) 100-day Experience Group," where participants walk together daily while enjoying Suncheon's natural scenery, starting from the 26th as part of the citizen health walking project.
This experience group will meet every morning at 6:30 AM at the aerobics plaza under Palma Bridge, engaging in stretching exercises using Nordic-style dual hand poles, walking a round trip of 10 km from Palma Bridge to Dream Bridge using Nordic walking, pre- and post-InBody measurements and health consultations, and monthly walking health lectures, operating for 100 days.
The city will accept 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, and Suncheon citizens who wish to join the 100-day Nordic walking experience group can apply via a Naver form by the 25th.
Nordic walking uses Nordic-style dual hand poles to distribute body weight properly through correct walking, reducing the burden on knees and joints.
In particular, it is an exercise that uses 90% of the muscles, increasing muscle strength while reducing body fat, and has recently gained much popularity among citizens.
A Suncheon city official stated, "We hope that citizens will recover their mental and physical health by walking together through nationally representative wellness health spots such as Suncheon Bay Wetland, Dongcheon, Bonghwa Mountain Trail, Waon Beach, and Hwapo Beach, and we ask for many citizens to participate in this program."
Meanwhile, since February, the Wellness Nordic Walking School has been operating an 8-week course, currently educating about 50 students in its third term. After completion, participants transition into a Nordic walking club and engage in regular weekly walks to promote health.
