Suncheon-si, Temporary Operation of Companion Animal Culture Center
The First Step Toward Completing a Pet-Friendly City
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 15th that it has been temporarily operating the "Suncheon Pet Culture Center," a hub space for building a pet-friendly city, since the 7th.
Before the official opening, the city partially opened facilities such as a dog shower room and indoor dog playgrounds (for medium/small dogs and large dogs) during the temporary operation period, and is running three programs including a pet walking class to gather feedback from pet owners and their dogs on any inconveniences and improvements regarding the use of the Pet Culture Center.
Any citizens who own pets or prospective pet owners interested in pets can visit and participate in the facilities and educational programs by making a reservation via phone in advance.
However, pets must be registered and have completed comprehensive vaccinations to be allowed entry to the facilities.
The city plans to develop the Pet Culture Center as a key hub in the Namhae region that leads a social culture where people and pets coexist, in line with the increasing population of pet owners.
Additionally, through the creation of an outdoor pet playground and various events utilizing the Ocheon Green Plaza, the city aims to become a city that pet owners nationwide want to visit.
A Suncheon city official stated, "We will spread a healthy pet culture and create a social atmosphere that respects life where people and animals live together," and added, "We hope many pet owners will visit the Pet Culture Center."
