Jeonnam Province Launches Traffic Safety Campaign to Establish Advanced Traffic Culture
On the 14th, Jeonnam Province announced that it conducted a 'Public-Private-Police Joint Traffic Safety Campaign' around Beolgyo Station in Boseong to protect the lives of residents from traffic accidents through the establishment of an advanced traffic culture.
The campaign was attended by over 200 people from 13 organizations and groups, including Jeollanam-do Province, Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, Boseong County, Jeonnam Police Agency, Jeonnam Office of Education, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Jeonnam Transportation Training Institute, Jeonnam Saemaul Association, Barugesalgi Jeonnam Council, and the Green Mothers' Association.
Participants carried banners reading 'Chaman Son (Raise your hand when you meet a car!!)' and traffic safety hand signs as they walked around Beolgyo Station, urging active participation in making Jeonnam a safe place free from traffic accidents.
Moon Geum-ju, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province, stated, "To open the era of happiness in Jeonnam with a great leap toward the world, we must be free from various accidents and dangers in daily life," emphasizing, "It is especially important to have an advanced traffic awareness that practices yielding and consideration to prevent traffic accidents, which are closely exposed in everyday life."

Jeonnam Province reduced traffic accident fatalities by about 48%, from 387 in 2017 to 202 at the end of last year, through the 'Reducing Traffic Accident Fatalities Season 1' initiative during the 7th local government term. Starting this year, it plans to actively promote 'Reducing Traffic Accident Fatalities by Half Season 2' to reduce the number to 128 by 2026.
