Kakao i Cloud Accelerates Cloud Advancement Through Expanded Collaboration with AMD
Kakao Enterprise is intensifying its efforts to advance technology for targeting the high-performance premium cloud market by establishing a close cooperative system with global semiconductor company AMD.
On the 14th, Lee Kyung-jin, CEO of Kakao Enterprise, participated as the sole speaker from the Asia-Pacific region at the ‘AMD Data Center and AI Technology Premiere’ conference hosted by global semiconductor company AMD. CEO Lee announced the collaboration between Kakao i Cloud and AMD to support the advancement of AI technologies such as computer vision and natural language processing, introducing cases of cloud performance innovation.
This conference, held simultaneously online and offline, is a technical event showcasing AMD’s business strategies and product portfolio in the data center and AI fields. Key global customers including AMD CEO Lisa Su, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Meta, Hugging Face, PyTorch, and Citadel participated as speakers to present new products and collaboration cases related to data centers, AI, and high-performance computing solutions. AMD CEO Lisa Su introduced Kakao i Cloud and mentioned the high-performance cloud technology developed through close cooperation with Kakao i Cloud to support AI technologies such as computer vision and natural language processing.
In a video released on the same day, CEO Lee explained a simulation case on Kakao i Cloud applying AMD’s latest AI inference accelerator, Alveo V70, where KakaoMap Road View can more accurately identify faces and vehicle license plates or blur specific areas to protect personal information.
CEO Lee stated, “When switching to Alveo V70, performance is guaranteed to be equivalent to the existing GPU while expecting a 50% reduction in TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).” By utilizing the latest AI inference accelerator within Kakao i Cloud, it is expected to plan and provide advanced services without excessive cost increases compared to GPU-based data preprocessing systems.
