The Party Audit Committee of the United Party Conducts Internal Investigation on Hwang Bo-seung-hee for 'Violation of Political Funds Act'
The People Power Party's Party Affairs Audit Committee announced on the 13th that it has decided to conduct a party affairs investigation into Assemblywoman Hwangbo Seung-hee, who is under police investigation for alleged violations of the Political Funds Act and other charges.
Shin Eui-jin, Chairperson of the Party Affairs Audit Committee, told reporters after the 5th plenary meeting of the committee held at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, in the afternoon, "It was unanimously decided to conduct a party affairs investigation related to Assemblywoman Hwangbo Seung-hee," adding, "We plan to soon request explanations from the relevant parties and conduct attendance investigations."
Chairperson Shin explained, "When the case concerning Assemblywoman Hwangbo was reported, the committee members also thought the investigation should be conducted quickly, and the party requested it today as well."
Assemblywoman Hwangbo is under police investigation for alleged violations of the Political Funds Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. The police are investigating suspicions that prior to the 2020 general election and the 2022 local elections, Assemblywoman Hwangbo received money and valuables in exchange for nominating district councilors and city councilors. Additionally, it is known that investigations are ongoing into allegations that she received several tens of millions of won in cash, credit cards, luxury bags, and an apartment from Mr. A, the president of a real estate development company.

Meanwhile, the Party Affairs Audit Committee has also decided to conduct additional investigations into former Assemblywoman Kim Hyun-ah, the head of the Goyang-jeong party branch, who was referred to the prosecution for alleged violations of the Political Funds Act. Chairperson Shin stated, "Since the first meeting on the 2nd of last month, we have conducted a rigorous audit, but the claims from both sides remain highly contentious, and some facts are very unclear," adding, "It was suggested that further investigations are necessary to clarify the matter more precisely."
