Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will host the '2023 Seoul Forest Hip-hop & Music Festival,' a music festival that communicates and entertains through diverse generations and cultures, for the first time on the 17th at Seoul Forest Park.
This inaugural festival is planned as part of the preliminary cultural city project, which pursues the vision of a smart cultural city. Recently, hip-hop has been expressed in various styles across music, dance, and fashion fields, including rap, DJing, b-boying, street dance, and the improvisational art of graffiti. Now established as a mainstream culture that spans beyond the MZ generation to all generations, it is expected to be a place where anyone can easily enjoy and communicate culture.
The main performance will take place from 2 PM to 8 PM on the 17th, and admission is free. Attendance requires prior registration through the organizer Seongdong Cultural Foundation’s website, with on-site entry possible depending on the situation.
This festival is led by Paloalto, a veteran rapper known as the father figure of Seongsu-dong, who won the Best Rap/Hip-hop Album at the 11th Korean Popular Music Awards and has participated multiple times as a producer on the hip-hop audition program 'Show Me The Money.' Following him, the six-member hip-hop crew 'Under Seongsu Bridge,' composed of members affiliated with Seongdong-gu, will perform. Skilled musicians including the b-boy performance group ▲Gambler Crew ▲rapper Kundi Panda ▲rapper Choi LB will also join the lineup.
South Korea’s top choreography label ‘1Million’ and the global music label ‘Wavy’ will also participate in this event. Energetic and unique stages by talented artists Ahn Byung-woong and Khaki, who appeared consecutively on Show Me The Money seasons 9 and 10 and attracted great attention from hip-hop fans, are also prepared, raising expectations. Side events such as face painting experiences, body tattoos, and graffiti sticker making booths will be available as well.
