SK Signet Participates in EVS36, the World's Largest Electric Vehicle Symposium
Introducing the 400kW-Class Ultra-Fast Charger V2
SK Signet, the No.1 market leader in the U.S. ultra-fast electric vehicle charging market, announced on the 11th (local time) that it will participate in 'EVS36,' the world's most prestigious electric vehicle symposium held in Sacramento, California, USA.
EVS36 (36th Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exposition) is the world's oldest and largest electric vehicle event, held since 1969. This EVS36 is hosted by the U.S. EDTA (Electric Drive Transportation Association) and WEVA (World Electric Vehicle Association). Reflecting the global electrification trend, more than 2,200 industry stakeholders and academic experts will participate, with over 400 companies exhibiting, making it the largest event ever held.
At the EVS36 exhibition booth, SK Signet will showcase the 400kW-class V2 product, first unveiled at CES 2023 earlier this year. The V2 charger demonstrated its charging capability at the Texas local factory inauguration event on the 5th of this month (local time), charging a Kia EV6 vehicle with an 800V battery to 80% in just 14 minutes and 44 seconds, receiving great acclaim on site.
The V2 product can charge two vehicles simultaneously with a single charger (dispenser) and delivers up to 400kW output from a single port. It is the first 400kW-class ultra-fast charger produced domestically in the U.S., capable of fully charging up to 80% within 15 minutes, making it the fastest electric vehicle charger available.
Additionally, the V2 charger is manufactured in the U.S. using American steel. It is one of the few products eligible for benefits under the 'National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program' aimed at expanding U.S. electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Full-scale mass production is scheduled to begin next month in July at SK Signet’s Texas factory, enabling quick responses to purchase requests from customers seeking subsidy benefits.
For the first time at an international exhibition, SK Signet will also display a prototype model of the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), which supplies power in the megawatt (MW) range. The megawatt charger supplies over 1,000kW of power, making it suitable for charging commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses equipped with large-capacity batteries.
Shin Jeong-ho, CEO of SK Signet, stated, "As the number of electric vehicle users increases, customer demands for charging experience will rise," and added, "Reducing charging time is essential to accelerate the electric vehicle era, and our company will advance the ultra-fast charging technology to bring the practical electric vehicle era closer."
