Japan: "Increased Intrusions of Chinese Navy Survey Ships into Territorial Waters... Very Serious"
Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Staff of Japan's Joint Staff, stated on the 9th that the intrusion of Chinese naval survey ships into territorial waters has "increased significantly and is very serious."
According to Kyodo News and others, Yoshida, who is equivalent to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Korea, said at a press conference that day, "It is necessary to repeatedly convey diplomatic protests and concerns." He added, "It is important to make clear that they are actively engaging in activities that cause serious concern."

Earlier, on the 8th, a Chinese naval survey ship intruded into the territorial waters southwest of Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, and returned to the East China Sea about three hours later. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, this is the eighth intrusion into territorial waters by a Chinese survey ship since November 2021.
