Busan Office of Education Hosts 'Environmental Education Eoullim Hanmadang' Event
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is hosting the ‘2nd Environmental Education Harmony Festival’ in collaboration with Busan City, Busan Environmental Education Center, and Busan Environmental Education Network to celebrate the 2nd Environmental Education Week.
The event, under the slogan ‘Learning, Enjoying, and Sharing Environmental Education Week,’ will be held on the 10th at 12:30 PM at the Green Square of Busan City Hall, with participation from students, teachers, parents, the educational community, local environmental organizations, and related institutions.
This event will feature various programs including ▲an environmental campaign with the audience ▲student stage performances such as an environmental concert by Baekyang Middle School’s band ▲sharing of excellent school environmental education cases ▲environmental experience booths from 16 schools including Yongho Elementary School ▲and a youth environmental talk concert.
The ‘Environmental Experience Booths’ will offer hands-on programs such as making household items using discarded banners, creating fans to overcome the climate crisis, and knitting eco-friendly scrubbers.
The ‘Busan Youth Environmental Committee,’ composed of 26 middle and high school students from the Busan area, will also hold a talk concert on topics including ‘Results and Introduction of Youth Environmental Awareness Survey’ and ‘Youth Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practice Cases.’
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The importance of environmental education in response to climate change is growing day by day,” and added, “I hope this event will serve as an opportunity for all Busan citizens to unite their hearts in practicing for a sustainable future.”

On the 8th, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education was the only metropolitan and provincial office of education nationwide to receive the ‘Minister of Environment Award’ at the Environmental Education Week Festival held in Wonju, Gangwon Province, in recognition of its contributions to revitalizing environmental education and environmental conservation.
