Special Crackdown on Pollution Activities in Gwanggyo Water Source Protection Area
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is conducting a special crackdown on pollution activities in the Gwanggyo water source protection area.
Suwon City announced that it will deploy monitors throughout the entire area, including Munamgol in Gwanggyosan (4 people), Soryuji Reservoir (2 people), Sabangdam (6 people), Tongsindae (3 people), and rivers (2 people), to carry out the special crackdown from the 9th of this month until September 3rd.
The main items under crackdown include ▲picnicking, camping, and cooking ▲swimming, bathing, and washing ▲catching shellfish and fish ▲hiking with pets ▲illegal dumping of trash and waste ▲and separated waste collection in undesignated places.
Suwon City plans to impose penalties of up to 2 years imprisonment or fines up to 20 million KRW for those who do not comply with the prohibition guidance.
A Suwon City official said, "The water from Gwanggyo Reservoir is used as drinking water for Suwon citizens," and added, "Visitors to Gwanggyosan are asked to be especially careful about water pollution activities and to actively cooperate with the monitors' guidance activities."

The Gwanggyo water source protection area is located in the Sang- and Ha-gwanggyo-dong areas of Jangan-gu, covering an area of 10.197 square kilometers.
