Gwangju Buk-gu Operates Reading Academy at Unam Library
On the 8th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that Unam Library has been selected as an executing institution for the '2023 Reading Academy Project' hosted by the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency and will operate a humanities special lecture.
The Reading Academy is a project that supports cultural foundations, libraries, and other local cultural facilities to operate various humanities lectures in order to enhance residents' humanities literacy and spread reading culture.
Accordingly, Unam Library will operate a humanities special lecture titled "Records of the Grand Historian, Revisited: The Immortal History Book" every Wednesday from the 14th to September 20th, for a total of 15 sessions.
This special lecture will be conducted by Professor Lee Seong-won of Chonnam National University, who will explain Chinese history in an easy-to-understand way through Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian, a treasure trove of anthropology and the foundation of Eastern historical texts.
Buk-gu plans to recruit 30 students on a first-come, first-served basis by the 12th, and residents who wish to participate can apply through the Buk-gu Integrated Library website.
