Pukyong National University Hosts Senegal-Invited Global Fisheries Training Program
On the morning of the 7th, Pukyong National University held an opening ceremony for the "Senegal Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Economy Capacity Building Invitation Training" at the CEO Hall on the 2nd floor of the Future Hall.
This program is a fisheries education and training course that imparts Korea's advanced fisheries education, technology, and policies. It supports the establishment of a foundation for the development of Senegal's fisheries industry and is an official development assistance (ODA) project supported by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to promote cooperation and friendship in the fisheries sector between Korea and Senegal.
Operated by Pukyong National University's Overseas Fisheries Cooperation Center, this global fisheries training course consists of three weeks of theoretical education, experimental practice, and field learning, with 10 current officials from Senegal's Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Economy participating.

View original imageThe Overseas Fisheries Cooperation Center at Pukyong National University actively utilizes the know-how accumulated since 2007 from fisheries training projects conducted for developing countries, organizing specialized courses in fisheries policy, aquaculture, feed, processing, food, and other related fields.
Professors from Pukyong National University and researchers from the National Institute of Fisheries Science, among other fisheries experts, participate as instructors to impart specialized knowledge in each field. Field learning utilizing local infrastructure is also conducted, including visits to local seafood processing companies, aquaculture farms, fishing grounds, markets, institutions, and organizations.

Following the opening ceremony, Jang Young-su, President of Pukyong National University, gave a special lecture to the participants, discussing the achievements of 100 years of modern and contemporary fisheries science research, global environmental changes and opportunities in the fisheries industry, and new paradigms and innovations in fisheries science research.
