Efforts to Improve Sanhocheon Water Quality Through Mudfish Release
On the 5th, ahead of Environment Day, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam carried out water quality improvement and environmental cleanup activities around Sanho Stream as part of a public-private cooperative environmental conservation effort.
The event, held on the 3rd through a public-private partnership between the city and the Dongmasan Junior Chamber, was attended by about 300 people including Jo Myeong-rae, the 2nd Vice Mayor of Changwon Special City, National Assembly member Yoon Han-hong, members of the Dongmasan Junior Chamber, and citizens.
As part of the public-private cooperation environmental conservation activities, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam carried out water quality improvement and environmental cleanup activities around Sanho Stream.
View original imageOn that day, loaches were released into the upper reaches of Sanho Stream to promote the restoration and enhancement of the ecological stream, and environmental cleanup activities around Sanho Stream were conducted to create a healthy and pleasant living environment.
In particular, one loach can eat more than 1,000 chironomid and mosquito larvae, making it highly effective for eco-friendly pest control. Additionally, its habit of burrowing into the streambed supplies oxygen to the stream, which is known to be effective in improving water quality, raising expectations for further water quality improvement in Sanho Stream.
