View original imageThe People Power Party on the 4th accused the Democratic Party of Korea, which is intensifying its offensive against the government's response to the issue of the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, of resorting to anti-Japanese agitation to change the narrative amid setbacks caused by the 'party convention money envelope scandal' and the 'coin controversy' sparked by lawmaker Kim Nam-guk.
In a commentary, Chief Spokesperson Yoo Sang-beom targeted Lee Jae-myung, who attended a large-scale protest rally held in Busan the previous day, saying, "He abandoned the National Assembly, which is burdened with pressing issues, and went all the way down to Busan only to spout the absurd argument that 'the People Power Party is spreading the Fukushima contaminated water rumor'." Lee had described the contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant as "virtually nuclear waste" at the 'Yeongnam Region Protest Rally Against the Discharge of Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Contaminated Water' held in Seomyeon, Busan, and said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol must protest to Japan in accordance with the people's mandate."
Chief Spokesperson Yoo said, "Isn't Lee Jae-myung, who practices rumor politics, ashamed to hold hands with the citizens of Busan?" and urged, "The Democratic Party's brand of pro-Japanese smearing, which has become a ridiculous drama, must stop immediately." Floor Spokesperson Jang Dong-hyuk also directly criticized, "If Lee does not change himself, the people will deliver a stern judgment on the old-fashioned agitation and low-quality slander politics." He added, "Supreme Council Member Seo Young-kyo showed blind hostility toward President Yoon Seok-yeol, calling him 'this kind of guy.' With such people serving as the party leader and supreme council member of the main opposition party, the party has reached a level where it should be disbanded."

Supreme Council Member Kim Byung-min criticized the Central Election Commission's recruitment corruption allegations, saying, "It is time for Lee Jae-myung to take the lead in condemning the Election Commission's recruitment corruption that causes young people to feel a sense of loss, but instead, he was busy stirring up outdated anti-Japanese agitation by visiting the sea in front of Busan and indulging in rumor politics." He continued, "The Democratic Party's immorality is widespread from the party leader to the entire party, so such incidents are not properly addressed and instead, they go out on the streets spreading rumors and fervently engaging in agitation politics."
