Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) successfully concluded ‘Green (GREEN) Maker, Gwanak,’ held on the 3rd at Gwanak-gu Office Plaza to commemorate the 28th Environmental Day.
This event was held for the first time this year to enhance residents’ empathy and voluntary participation in practicing carbon-neutral living through various experiential and promotional exhibitions.
The event began with a busking performance by a youth art club from Gwanak-gu, and in the first part, five members of environmental organizations who contributed to the creation of a carbon-neutral city and resource circulation in Gwanak-gu were awarded the ‘Meritorious Citizen Award.’
Following this, Gwanak-gu Mayor Park Junhee and heads of environmental organizations attracted attention by holding placards and performing a pledge to practice carbon neutrality.
In the second part, an open challenge! Environmental Golden Bell O·X quiz was held to raise awareness and understanding of climate crisis response and carbon neutrality.
Also, many residents, including children, actively participated in the event booths set up for ▲self-powered cotton candy making ▲coffee grounds flowerpot making ▲hand fan and handkerchief making ▲eco-friendly product pop-up store, receiving great responses.
In particular, at the Resource Circulation Center booth, ‘Eco Tomorrow’ was operated, exchanging transparent PET bottles and eco-bags for designated waste bags, encouraging residents’ voluntary resource circulation activities.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, who attended the event, said, “I ask all residents to actively take interest and participate in practicing carbon-neutral living in daily life through today’s event,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in efforts to promote ESG policies that realize environmental and social values through cooperation with residents, businesses, and civic groups.”
