Exhibition, Performance, and Experience All in One... Humanities Festival to Enjoy at Mudeungsan
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will hold ‘Humanities For:rest’ in the Mudeungsan Jeungsimsa area on the 10th and 11th.
This festival is part of the Mudeungsan Ecological Cultural Content Development Project and is designed to develop specialized humanities content using the historical and cultural resources of the Mudeungsan area under the theme ‘Mudeung, a Humanities Forest with Forest and Rest.’
During the festival, visitors can enjoy various programs including ▲‘1187 Library,’ the highest humanities library in the world held at Jangbuljae ▲‘Mudeungsan Themed Exhibition and Experience’ linked with Uijaero Art Museum ▲Forest relaxation and reading ‘Hinoki Forest Humanities Campnic’ ▲Meditation with Chunsul tea at ‘Chunsul Reflection Garden’ ▲Humanities talks with novelists and artists ‘Warm Humanities’ ▲and exhibitions linked to ‘Humanities City Dong-gu.’
Among these, the ‘1187 Library’ is a mountaintop library operated at Jangbuljae on Mudeungsan, offering visitors a special experience to rest briefly at the closest place to the sky, enrich their intellect, and feel the beautiful nature of Mudeung.
On the first day, the festival begins with the ‘Mudeung Humanities Run Walking Contest,’ a 1.7 km walk from Hagun Elementary School to the festival stage in front of Munbinjeongsa, followed by ‘Humanities Talk ? Warm Humanities’ with novelist Jeong Jia, a humanities experience program ‘Humanities Forest Tour’ with humanities experts, a humanities forum reflecting on coexistence with the region themed on Mudeungsan, ‘Starry Night DJ Moon Hyung-sik’s Music Cafe,’ and a music talk performance with singer Harim.
On the next day, there will be the ‘Uijae Art Museum Drawing Contest ? Drawing Mudeung’ for kindergarten to middle school students, ‘Humanities Talk ? Warm Humanities’ with broadcaster Tyler, ‘Humanities Forest Tour,’ and ‘Chunsul Reflection Garden,’ concluding with a closing performance, the ‘Poetry Concert’ singing poems by the late poets Lee Seong-bu and Moon Byung-ran, awaiting citizens.
In particular, in cooperation with the five art museums in the Uijaero area, developed as ‘Mudeungsan Art Valley’ (Gukyun, Woo Jegil, Mudeung Modern, Deuyoung, and Uijae Art Museum), a special Mudeungsan exhibition ‘Forest of Art, to Mudeung’ will be held, offering art appreciation and art class experience programs.
